Prom Weekend!

This weekend was probably one of the best weekends I've had in a long time! Saturday was prom and I got to spend my last prom with all of my amazing friends. My day started out with some coffee and a bagel then going to get my hair done! After that, I went home and did my makeup for the dance. My date came over and we took so many pictures at my house, my friends house, downtown and at the dance! After prom was so much fun with all of my friends. We didn't go to bed until 6 in the morning! After taking a 3 hour nap, we all went to Buffalo Wild Wings to watch the Blackhawks beat the Wild! It was overall an amazing weekend!

College

My college future right now is not yet finally decided. My two choices right now are between U of I and NIU. I have already taken a tour of U of I and I love it so much! The only bad thing is that it costs so much. I am going to be visiting NIU within the next couple of weeks to take a tour of the campus and to also take my placement exams to help me get into the program of which I hope to study. I would like to go to U of I because it's two hours away from home as to where NIU is 45 minutes away. I don't want to be able to come home every weekend. But I know that it's all my decision to choose whether to come home or not, but I don't want the choice of how I am able to get home quickly. But I think my final decision will be made after I tour NIU in the next couple of weeks!

Spring Break

Over spring break, I went to Pittsburgh for my first time to visit my godparents. My first day there we went out for pizza to catch up on what was new with each other. My first actual day in Pittsburgh included getting a manicure and pedicure with my godmother, getting coffee, and then going to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner then the movies. We also went to Dave and Busters after the movie! We saw the new Captain America movie and it was amazing! My second day, we went up the Duquesne Incline to see the whole city of Pittsburgh and then my godmother and I went shopping at the outlet mall where I got my cartilage pierced. For dinner that night, we went to Pimantri Brother's which is famous for their french fries and cole slaw on sandwiches. My last day consisted of watching a Pirates game and then going to dinner at Red Robin. I would most definitely move to Pittsburgh if I could because I love being with my godparents. I also love the hills you drive over and the scenery you see everywhere you go.

This is a picture of Sydney, Australia.  I have been thinking so much about how amazing it would be to go and visit Australia for the longest time. I love how beautiful every picture I have seen from Australia is and how friendly the people from there seem to be! I especially love the accents of the Australian people as well. I feel that if I were to take a vacation to Sydney, I would never want to come home. The beaches look so beautiful, and I especially love a place that always has warm weather. The people always appear to be free-spirited and relaxed, and I am the same type of person. I feel that my personality would fit right in with the Australian vibes.

Recently I have been thinking a lot about what I want to do after high school! Yesterday during career day, many of the people who talked to us all had something in common, which was studying abroad! I have never been out of the US and I would love to take advantage of going to explore somewhere new when I get older. I hope to start traveling during college and being apart of a study abroad program. I feel that this will help me become more independent than ever, especially being so far away from my family. Right now I have this idea that I would like to become a physical therapist. But who knows! Maybe if I do study abroad and love travelling, my career choice might be related to traveling to several different parts of the world and seeing the beauty of life first hand!

This past weekend, the Blackhawks competed in the Stadium Series against the Pittsburgh Penguins. This is a picture of the Blackhawks giving the first person to score the goal for their team, #10, Patrick Sharp! I love this picture because it shows unity within the team and it displays great sportsman ship among the team itself. I also love this picture because you get to see the atmosphere that they were playing in. You can see the snow falling, how cold it was just by what they're wearing and their amazing uniforms! I can only imagine what the atmosphere was in the stadium after the Blackhawks came out with a victory!

Review A Movie You've Recently Seen.

I just recently have watched the movie the Haunting in Connecticut 2, Ghosts of Georgia. I really enjoy watching scary movies and this movie freaked me out. The actors that were chosen to portray the characters in the movie made the movie even more entertaining. The main character, the bad guy in the movie actually really freaked me out by the way that he looks. He was really scary and it took me a couple of days just to get the image of him out of my head. What I also thoroughly enjoyed about the movie was that it was based on a true story. Also, at the end of the movie, they showed the actual people who the movie was based off of. They also showed pictures of the people in the movie at the end to show how they appeared in the movie at their certain age.

What's new?

Over the past month, many things have changed. For the better! Last month I went on the Kairos retreat, and it was amazing. I feel that through that experience, I have gotten so close to many people and have gotten a better understanding of the people they have become. I have built strong friendships with a few people who I feel like I can tell anything and have them help me whenever I'm in need. Another thing that is new is that the days until graduation and prom are getting closer and closer! Only 81 days until graduation and 66 days until prom!! I am also planning my trip with my godmother to visit her in Pittsburgh during spring break which will be so much fun! The last new thing that is happening is probably making my final decision as to where I would like to go for college. I hope that I make my decision soon so that way I can remove some of the stress I have been carrying around with me. 

If you wrote a book, what would your soundtrack consist of?

If I were to write a book, my soundtrack would consist of many artists that I love listening to. If my book had any type of sadness or depression stage, the soundtrack would mostly consist of Mumford & Sons, Coldplay, The Lumineers, and Phillip Collins. If my book consisted of adventure and crazy events happening, the soundtrack would mainly consist of Linkin Park and Imagine Dragons. The party or fun times in the book would have a soundtrack consisting of Miley Cyrus, Marc Anthony, One Direction, and many other hot pop artists today. All of these artists just so happen to be my favorite to listen to, and I feel that my book would depict who I am through the music I chose. 

On a Scale of 1-Crazy, how addicted are you to Facebook/Twitter/Instagram?

On the scale of 1-Crazy, I would have to say that I am crazily addicted to Instagram and Twitter the most. Whenever I'm home, I'm always looking through my Twitter and Instagram feed. If I scroll through my feed and see things I've already seen, I'll lock my phone for about five minutes, then go back on to see if anything new was added. My crazy scale just doesn't stop there. I also check Instagram and Twitter when I wake up, during school, when I'm home, on the bus, and right before I go to sleep. I feel that these social media apps/sites keep me updated with my friends and favorite celebrities, which makes my addiction even crazier!

5 Minutes with Mark Zuckerburg

If I was given the opportunity to talk to Mark Zuckerburg for five minutes, I would tell him to improve Facebook by going back to the old and original Facebook. The newer version of Facebook is much more complicated than it used to be. There are way too many ads, links and unnecessary posts all over Facebook today. It's hard to keep track of what's going on now that Facebook has so many new and difficult options. I personally feel that after Facebook became newer, many people have stopped using it like myself. I see so many pointless things on my Facebook that just makes me not want to go on it. My five minutes with Mark Zuckerburg would just consist of me telling him that the old Facebook was the best Facebook and it should go back to being that way.

5 Ways I use Twitter

I have no other way to describe how much I thoroughly enjoy using Twitter. One way I use Twitter is by connecting with my friends that I usually don't see everyday. Through Twitter, I am able to see what they are up to and what's new in their lives. Another way I use Twitter is by keeping up with my school friends. I may not have a lot or any classes with all my close friends, so Twitter gives me an insight as to how their day was or what happened in their classes. I also use Twitter in the way to express how I feel at any moment in time, to express my opinions and to even recite lyrics from all of my favorite songs. If I am not able to say how I'm feeling verbally, I can most definitely say it through my thoughts on Twitter. Another reason why I use Twitter is to keep up to date with all my favorite celebrities, artists, actors, viners, Youtubers, etc. I love seeing what's new with them. all of their thoughts and opinions and even seeing whether they will be visiting Chicago any time soon! The last reason of why I use Twitter is to receive updates on my favorite sports team, the Blackhawks. When I'm out and there is a game on, Twitter sends me game feed as to what is happening when I am not able to watch. I also get updates on injuries, updates on players and just general information about the team! 

Favorite Social Media Outlet

My favorite social media outlet would have to be Instagram. Through Instagram, I am able to see what all of my friends are up to! Yes it's nice to know in detail like on Twitter, but like the phrase, "A picture is worth a thousand words", I believe Instagram lives by this. I enjoy seeing pictures of my friends when they go to different places and what they're doing outside of school. Instagram is also my favorite social media outlet because I am not only able to follow my friends, but also the celebrities I love!  I enjoy seeing what my favorite Viners, artists, models and actors are up to. You get to see what they see in their own life rather than what you see on magazines and online. 

Which season best suits my personality?

The season that best suits my personality would have to be fall. Fall is probably one of the most chill and laid back seasons of the four. It's also a season of fun and warmth. I myself really enjoy being laid back and just going with the flow. Also, in the fall, many people find themselves doing a lot of fun things such as going to pumpkin patches, trick-or-treating, apple picking and walking outside a lot. I thoroughly enjoy being on of those people who has fun during the fall. The weather during the fall is also amazing. It's never too hot or too cold. Through this season, I'm able to show what kind of person I am through my fashion sense. 

5 Items I would buy with a million dollars

One thing  I would actually buy with a million dollars would have to be season tickets to every Blackhawks home games. I am a huge fan, and that would probably be my favorite purchase of all time. Another item I would buy is my first car. I would prefer to buy the newest version of a Jeep. My next item isn't really an item, it's my college tuition. I would like to pay off all my college expenses rather than worry about it after college. Another item I would buy is a cruise trip for myself and my family. We have not gone on a cruise yet, and I would love to be the one to take them on one. My last item would have to be an iPhone 5c in the coral color. I really would like an iPhone because I hate having an android phone. 

Random Quote

"God grant me the serenity

This quote is from the Serenity Prayer, and it just so happens to be my favorite quote. When I saw this quote before, I fell in love with it. Whenever I'm having a bad day or I just need something to bring up my mood, I read this. When I went to my moms office a couple of months ago, I wrote the quote out for her and her co-worker because I know they need something positive to look at when they're having a bad day at work. I hope to one day get this tattooed on me as a constant reminder to be calm, accept what I can, and to change what needs to be changed. 

Favorite Villain

My favorite villain, as cliche as it may sound, is The Joker. I particularly like the Joker from The Dark Knight Rises. I think that Heath Ledger portrayed the role of the Joker amazingly. I feel that he showed everything that the Joker was expected to be in a precise way. I like how the Joker plays with peoples minds and manipulates others. When the Joker explains how he got his scars really brought more of a background to the character and really made me enjoy the Joker's character as a whole. I also like the Joker because he's not one of the physically strongest villains Batman goes against, but that he's probably one of the most strong mental wise. 

Favorite Rainy Day Movie

If I had to choose a movie to watch on a rainy day, it would be all of the Transformers movies. I enjoy watching an action packed film on a gloomy, dark day. When the weather is dark, I like to watch action movies like Transformers because they add some sort of excitement for the day! I'd rather spend my rainy day watching an action packed film rather than watching a drama or romantic movie. I feel that if I were to watch a sad movie on a rainy day, I would feel like the weather, dark and gloomy. I'd rather be wide awake and into a movie than sleepy and sad.

4.) If someone gave me a free plane ticket to anywhere in the world, I would go to Hawaii. Hawaii has always been a place that I've have been wanting to go and explore. I personally do not enjoy cold weather, so I feel that a trip to Hawaii would be amazing! I love that you can sit on the beach and tan and soak in the sun all day. The idea of walking on a beach and hiking up mountains really makes me want to go. I always see beautiful pictures of Hawaii, and I feel like if I were to take a trip there, I would never want to leave! I would love to go to a luau and learn how to hula!


25.) Someone that makes my life better would have to be my best friend Kryss. Kryss and I became best friends last year through Spanish class, and we have been inseparable since then. Whenever I have a problem, she is always there to help me out no matter what. Even though I call her my best friend, I feel like she's an older sister to me. Kryss always makes me laugh and always has good advice when needed. If we go a day without talking, I feel like my whole day has gone wrong. We always keep each other updated, and we always find ways to make time for each other even though our schedules are crazy. I think that if  I hadn't become friends with Kryss last year, my life would be totally different than what it is now. 

About Me

My name is Carissa Atiles and I am a senior. I hope to attend either the University of Illinois Urbana or Michigan State University in the Fall of 2014. My favorite sports team to watch are the Blackhawks. I enjoy watching movies and hanging out with my friends in my spare time. One of my favorite movies that I can watch over and over again is She's The Man.

What I expect to learn from this class is how to be a good blogger and how to build a website. Some types of websites I would like to build are ones that teenagers can relate to, websites on sports and T.V shows, and fashion as well. I want to make websites based on these things because they are what interest me and relate to my everyday life. I have no experience with any type of website design, but I hope to better my skills through this class.
